Evelyn is a pure dressleri of the Rio Guanche ecotype grown in my care from seed. Her seed parent is A. dressleri ‘Rio Guanche ecotype wild founder clone number 2’ originally collected by Jay Vannini. Her pollen parent is an amazing A. dressleri ‘Windy’ which is a selfed dressleri from Windy Aubrey grown by Grant Abdal. To the best of my knowledge, Windy’s dressleri is of the Rio Guanche ecotype too.
Evelyn has a story on how she come to be in my collection which will show just how strong of a dressleri she actually is. She was imported from the States to Europe as a germinated seed and ended up being in a box for no less than four weeks, first due to a strike in the States and then my package going missing in Europe. But everything worked out with some strong and healthy genetics! Furthermore, I kept all my anthuriums in ambient conditions at the time – and she was no exception despite being my precious little dressleri. So since being just a tiny seedling with only a few couple of leaves, she was thrown out of her humidity dome and grew up in those rough Scandinavian conditions where humidity levels around 30 % was not uncommon during that winter.
I love Evelyn for her amazing colors, pillowy leaf texture, overall leaf shape and more compact growth pattern. Photos coming soon!
